Opened: 1999
Renovated 2009
The busiest building on campus, the Dining Hall prepares meals for all campus residents 364 days a year. Original construction completed in 1999 and included a 12,000 gallon cistern under the seating area slab. The 2009 expansion included the addition of a 25,000 gallon cistern. As expected due to the large refrigeration units, the Dining Hall draws the largest amount of power on campus, responsible for more than 1/3 of all energy consumption on the Island School campus.
The building has 100 gallons of passive solar collectors on the the south east facing roof.
