Early Learning Center and Bikeshed

Opened: 2013

In the fall of 2013, the Early Learning Center was launched on The Island School campus in the experiential tradition, with pioneer students aged 2-7 years old from our growing community of faculty and staff.

Pulling from the Reggio Emilia approaches to early childhood education, and using the campus and local environment as a textbook, this one-room schoolhouse is helping fulfill the Island School’s vision for a Pre-K through PhD village of learners and teachers.

The learning and teaching at the Early Learning Center is in honor of the memory of our young friend Christopher M. Morris, Jr. from Murrell's Inlet, South Carolina, who loved fishing, boating, and exploring at Cape Eleuthera with his parents and grandparents.
